Clover & Co.

Clover & Co. is a fashion magazine that features sustainable buying practice ideas and ethical brands in an effort to combat fast fashion trends. The idea of "fast fashion" is that styles come and go so quickly that clothing, particularly inexpensive clothing, is perceived as disposable. The cost of manufacturing clothing has decreased, and the amount of clothing purchases have increased.  Unfortunately, not everyone benefits from this system. Lower clothing costs are due largely in part to unethically outsourced manufacturing, which comes at a much greater cost. These clothing factories, often referred to as "sweat shops," are infamous for their dark, unsafe, and dirty working conditions, as well as their unlivable, low wages.

Our goal at Clover & Co. is to inform and provide alternatives. Ethical clothing doesn't have to be frumpy, it doesn't have to cost a fortune, and it doesn't have to be impossible to find. We want to showcase stylish alternatives, modeled by real, unedited Notre Dame and Saint Mary's students, to show that it is possible to make a positive impact on the world through clothing purchasing habits.

This project was done in collaboration with Amy Ackermann. I worked mainly on layout, content editing, and typography. The beautiful photographs and website, however, are the work of Amy.
