Gone are the days when high school seniors anticipated a simple “big envelope” or dreaded a “small envelope” from their dream school. In collaboration with Scott Taylor, I created a modern “mailbox moment” to congratulate and welcome the members of the John Carroll University class of 2025. The messaging of “You Earned This” with bold, graphic imagery spoke to the accomplishments of our incoming students and was designed to provide a feeling of pride and excitement before even being opened.
The individual pieces served the purpose not only to welcome and congratulate students, but also to provide practical calls to action, such as registering for our admitted student event, applying for financial aid, and ultimately, submitting a deposit.
Social Media
To add interaction, I created an Instagram story where users can tap through the story to “open” an acceptance packet. Additionally, we encouraged future Blue Streaks to show off their pennant and tag us @johncarrollu to generate engagement and excitement.
Financial Aid Piece
A few weeks after the receive their acceptance packets, admitted students will get their customized financial aid letter. To add more warmth to a numerical piece and emphasize the value of a John Carroll education, we created an eight-page folded piece aimed at both the prospective students and their families.
